Rental Conditions

GRM has the following rental conditions for vehicles:

• Driver age must be 21 years or older.
• Driver must hold a current, full drivers licence appropriate to the class of vehicle
• Two-wheel drive vehicles must not be taken off sealed roads - ie they are limited to the Gove Peninsula - Nhulunbuy, Yirrkala, Airport, Port, Ski Beach.
• Four-wheel drive vehicles must stay within a 250 kilometre radius of Nhulunbuy.
• Four-wheel drive vehicles must not be taken through salt water or below high tide mark on beach.
• Drivers must adhere to the Road Rules of the Northern Territory.
• Booking must be held with a credit card. Company purchase orders may be accepted.
• Insurance excess on four-wheel drive vehicles is AUD4,000.00 and cannot be reduced.
• Insurance excess on two-wheel drive vehicles is AUD4,000.00 but can be reduced to AUD600.00 with the excess reduction policy of AUD38.50 per day.
• Vehicles are not permitted to transport any animals.
• Vehicles returned in an unsatisfactory state will incur a minimum of $250 cleaning fee.
• Customers may be subject to a Pre-Authorisation (freeze of funds) of a $4,000 bond plus car hire charges, one business day prior to the hire car being taken. A pre-Authorisation freezes the funds on your credit for a period of time until the return of an undamaged vehicle. The length or a Pre-Authorisation is approx. 7 days, depending on your card type and bank. If car hire goes over 7 days, additional Pre-Authoristations will be done to ensure it covers the length of hire and until the vehicle is returned undamaged. Please check with your own bank for their Pre-Authorisation terms.
• If customer does not re-fuel the fuel tank before returning the vehicle, the fuel will be charged out at $4.40 per litre.
